Greensboro, N.C., September 7, 2004 – Syngenta Professional Products has developed a new liquid formulation of its leading strobilurin fungicide — Heritage — for the turf market. Heritage TL (Turf Liquid) offers control of the same turf diseases as the original water dispersible granular formulation of Heritage, but with enhanced efficacy and application flexibility.

“Heritage TL is a micro-emulsion concentrate (MEC), which means it has the same physical characteristics and properties of the Syngenta MAXX family of products. The smaller particle size and greater amount of surfactant result in quicker uptake by the plant’s foliage and root system, said Dave Ross, Ph.D., turf and ornamental technical manager for Syngenta. “Initial university studies indicate the enhanced TL formulation of Heritage offers a 10 to 15 percent efficacy advantage over the granular formulation on selected diseases, like anthracnose and Pythium.

Research shows Heritage TL has a faster and higher uptake into the leaf, coupled with a slightly less rainfast leaf surface residue, which allows more uptake from the roots and subsequently greater delivery of active ingredient into the leaves.

Heritage is the only systemic strobilurin available to the turf and ornamental market, resulting in the longest application interval of all strobilurin fungicides. Heritage offers the longest-lasting broad-spectrum disease control in the industry — up to 28 days of outstanding preventive control of more than 33 disease organisms on turfgrass and ornamental plants.

“This new formulation breakthrough took almost three years to develop, and required a very significant outlay in global expertise and finances, said Joe DiPaola, Ph.D., golf market manager for Syngenta. “Syngenta is pleased to make this investment in the golf and lawn markets to provide turfgrass professionals with a valuable option of this highly effective, flexible liquid fungicide.

Heritage TL is available in the 10-gallon LinkPak and now 2 gallon cases and will qualify for the Syngenta early order program.

Rate: 1 to 2 oz. in at least 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. depending on the disease you are controlling.
